With the increasing focus on climate change, governments have started to adopt innovative measures to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
One of these measures is the introduction of allowances - controlled quotas of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) a company can emit - along with a scheme for trading unused allowance in the form of 'credits'.
